Mini Baked Alaska

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Many moons ago, in a galaxy far, far, far away… I was a Baked Alaska whore. I really was. Ask my doctor. She’s still trying to get me to give up ice cream for my cholesterol’s sake.

These mini Baked Alaska pies by Zoe Bakes are adorable and now I really want to get back into making this divine dessert in my kitchen. I’m bringing sexy (desserts) back, kids. Oh, yes, I am! Whoot.

Fresh lasagna dinner made from scratch (incl. pasta sheets), ... on TwitPic

To Do:

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

I’m making a coach bag for winter. I don’t have one, and I have always wanted one, so I got crackin’ last night.

I created a pattern based on a photo I found online of purse style that I loved, cut out the main fabric and some of the interfacing, but there is much more to do before it’s ready for prime time. Hence this list to keep me focused and on track.

Please feel free to ignore this post in its entirety unless you also sew.

Purse To Dos:

  • Cut out interfacing
  • Cut out lining material
  • Sew purse sides and bottom together
  • Construct the handles and affix to purse
  • Construct bottom panel
  • Affix bias tape around top and on handles
  • Construct French tack
  • Sew button and French tack
  • Sew feet on bottom outside of purse
  • Misc. To Dos:

  • Take Mac ‘N’ Cheese bake out of the oven and set it aside to cool.
  • Wash romaine lettuce for dinner tonight.
  • Pull roasted chicken apart for tonight’s salad.
  • Core, peel and slice up leftover apples for tonight’s Apple Brown Betty crisp.
  • Wash dishes.
  • Disinfect the whole kitchen.
  • Wash and scrub all wood cutting boards; moisturize with mineral oil. Sand as needed.
  • Wash out bar fridge.
  • Wash out main fridge.
  • Wash white laundry.
  • Clean microwave.
  • Clean bathroom.
  • Wash kitchen floor.
  • Work on this week’s lunch and dinner menus.

  • How to quit Facebook… for realz

    Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

I don’t get much in the way of email anymore because I’m a recluse, but of the few I got this week, one was the most useful I have gotten in a very long time. Facebook sent me a reply to my request to have my account that’s been deactivated permanently deleted. I wasn’t shocked that they buried the method to do it myself on their site and then conveniently neglected to tell anyone. That’s one of the reasons I hate Facebook with a burning passion.

I digress. Since they were kind enough to give me the steps to do it myself after weeks of begging them to do it for me since I couldn’t find a method myself, they send them the following, and I’m posting it so the rest of you searching how to delete your account can do it yourselves, too.

    1. Log in to your Facebook account.
    2. Click the “Help” link at the bottom of any page.
    3. Select the “Privacy” link from the “Using Facebook” section of the Help Center.
    4. Click the “I want to permanently delete my account” link toward the bottom of the page.

Please keep in mind that once your account is deleted, you will not be able to reactivate the account or retrieve any of the content or information you have added.

    You’re welcome, one and all.

Addendum: It will take up to 14 days for the account to be deleted after your follow the above steps. It’s not instantaneous.
